Slaughter the Water
Slaughter the Water
Evoking the spirit of the Aygalades stream, dry plant tissues of the neighborhood, the riverbeds and canals joining them are ritually rewatered. Plant leather made from local fruits and vegetables, and bodies of water were reconnected in the form of an edible installation, ultimately consumed communally. In the process of rehydration reminiscent of a sacral slaughter, we hydrated ourselves with the water of the stream.
The edible performative installation of szabadonbalaton, a Hungarian ecological art initiative, reflects on the condition of the Aygalades stream, and the consequences of human activities around. Locally and globally, the team works for making the ecological challenges of waters and wetlands visible and for the reconnection to water bodies.
